Living With Chronic Illness- An Interview
I recently met up with Vanessa at Vanessa-Samuel.org for an interview she had requested with me. The focus of the interview is my life with a chronic illness. Her heart is to help people understand what it is like to have a chronic illness, as well as what it is like to be a caregiver of someone with a chronic illness.
As I’m sure you know, people are quick to judge what they don’t understand, myself included. This is Vanessa’s way of opening the doors of understanding into a world many know little about and therefore, don’t understand very well.
Vanessa’s aim is to give her readers a look behind the closed doors, to reveal what it is like on the other side of the smile and pat answer of “I’m fine”.
Opening Up about my Chronic Illness
For a long time, I tried to keep my health issues out of my life as much as possible. So this interview did not come without some personal inner struggle.
I have some debilitating health issues, but I don’t want anyone to mistake that with who I am. On some level keeping who I am separated from what my health is helps me stay positive. I need to know that I am not my illness. So, I don’t talk a lot about it. However, as my subscribers know I have committed to be more open about my struggles, including the disabilities that my health has brought to my life.
Please join me at Vanessa’s blog for this interview and encourage her with your love and kindness.
